Melia’s experience in the hospitality and travel industry centers on guiding clients through the legal and operational challenges of running a modern hospitality business. From advising on emerging regulatory and market challenges to navigating contracts with owners, operators, vendors/subcontractors and regulators, Melia provides strategic insight to help clients navigate the industry’s complexities and drive business success.
Melia represents businesses and organizations across the hospitality industry in the negotiation of a wide range of contracts, including:
- Global/master sales agreements and hotel-level sales agreements
- Vendor, concession, catering and distribution contracts
- Corporate rate, gift card and loyalty program agreements
- Consulting, agency, media and influencer agreements
- Spa, retail, food and beverage, and entertainment venue leases/licenses
- Filming, production and creative license agreements
- Resort, destination and mandatory fee compliance
- Procurement and vendor due diligence across goods and services
Melia is a volunteer member of the Washington Hospitality Association’s Advisory Network, providing legal insights to members of the association. Her passion for the hospitality industry traces back to her roots and continues to the present day, with grandparents who were founders and operators of a winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and great-grandparents who were hotel developers in Seattle and Hawaii. She enjoys helping hospitality businesses thrive, as they help enrich people’s experiences and lives, by bringing togetherness and exposing people to new cuisines, places and cultures.
