Alternative Dispute Resolution
Creative and efficient solutions delivered by experienced dispute resolution attorneys inside & outside the courtroom
Most disputes are resolved through negotiation, including many that begin as formal lawsuits. Pursuing early resolution can significantly reduce legal costs and minimize disruption for all parties involved. Our alternative dispute resolution attorneys help clients explore efficient, creative ways to settle matters outside the courtroom. When appropriate, our ADR lawyers use mediation, arbitration, and other structured processes to deliver favorable outcomes without the burden of trial.
Mediation
Whether initiated voluntarily or required by court or forum rules, most legal disputes and arbitrations proceed through mediation. Our mediation attorneys are experienced in identifying neutral professionals with the right expertise and temperament to support productive resolutions. We have achieved exceptional results for clients in mediation across a broad range of legal areas. These include class actions, business disputes, labor and employment disputes, tax matters and municipal matters, including condemnation cases.
Arbitration
Arbitration is an increasingly common form of dispute resolution for business disputes, commercial matters and consumer disputes. With arbitration, the parties to a dispute select one or multiple arbitrators to consider and decide the issues in a binding award. Our arbitration lawyers assist clients in drafting and enforcing arbitration provisions in their key contracts and policies, including client-specific procedures for efficiently resolving employment disputes. We won a groundbreaking case establishing new precedent on the disclosures that arbitration service providers must make about possible conflicts of interest.
We represent our clients as advocates in arbitrations across a wide variety of subject matters including consumer claims (individual and class actions), commercial disputes, employment and labor matters, intellectual property issues and real estate disputes.
