Foster Garvey Announces Leadership Team Moves, Positioning Firm for Future Growth
SEATTLE, Wash. (July 1, 2026) Today, Foster Garvey announces the appointment of Emily Gant as Firm Managing Principal and Rafael Stone as Chair of the Executive Committee, moves that will advance the Firm’s continued financial success and provide strategic leadership across the Firm’s legal operations.
“As we welcome Emily in her new role to provide strategic leadership to the firm’s legal operations, I’m excited for the energy and perspective she will bring and the impact her direction will have on Foster Garvey’s future,” said Chief Executive Officer Scott Flichtbeil.
Emily is a distinguished compliance and regulatory attorney who has held multiple Firm leadership roles, including as chair of the nationally recognized Alcoholic Beverages practice. She regularly counsels a wide range of alcoholic beverage clients and those impacted by its regulations, including wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants and hotels, to ensure they operate lawfully and responsibly while achieving their business and product objectives.
“I am honored to take on this role and excited about what lies ahead for Foster Garvey,” said Firm Managing Principal Emily Gant. “Our firm is built on a strong foundation, and I look forward to working with our talented team to continue building on that success for our clients and our people.”
As Executive Committee Chair, Rafael Stone will continue to drive Foster Garvey’s strategic vision, providing stewardship of the Firm’s long-term performance and health.
“I’m looking forward to working with Emily as our new Firm Managing Principal on long-term strategy and growth in our key markets and industries,” said Rafael Stone.
Rafael also serves as co-chair of the Firm’s Investment Management group and is a highly sought-after advisor to public pension funds across the United States in all aspects of public pension fund alternative investments. He represents many of the nation’s most prominent institutional investors and has handled more than 3,000 transactions over his career.
This announcement comes as Rafael and Diana Shukis completed their terms as Firm Co-Chairs, and as Foster Garvey continues to reinforce strong, forward-looking leadership, which recently included the appointment of Scott Flichtbeil as Chief Executive Officer to oversee the Firm’s business operations.
“Working side-by-side with Diana has been one of the great privileges of my career,” Rafael added. “It has been incredible to witness her unwavering dedication to our clients, our people and our values, and I know she will bring the same level of excellence as she returns to her full-time labor and employment practice.”
“Rafael and Diana guided us through an important period of our Firm’s development and evolution,” said Emily Gant. “During their tenure, we have produced record business results, and we are deeply grateful for the steady leadership and meaningful progress they’ve helped the Firm achieve.”
