March 25, 2024 (Spokane, WA) – Foster Garvey is pleased to announce the arrival of seasoned real estate and business attorney Dave Knutson, who joins as counsel in the Real Estate, Land Use & Environmental practice and will be based in the firm’s Spokane office.

With a background in real estate, corporate and tax law, Dave brings a unique blend of experience that further expands the breadth of services Foster Garvey offers clients.

“Dave is a highly talented attorney whose skill set adds a valuable dimension to our team,” said Bryan Helfer, leader of Foster Garvey’s Real Estate, Land Use & Environmental group. “His diverse knowledge base will be a tremendous asset as we help clients navigate multifaceted transactions and drive growth in their sectors.”                                         

His practice spans business formation and operations, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and dispositions. Dave also advises clients in probate and trust matters, including administration, TEDRA agreements, complex 1031 exchanges and estate tax planning. Additionally, Dave assists clients in the creation and qualification of nonprofit corporations, and he regularly counsels corporate boards on governance and operational issues.

Prior to joining Foster Garvey, Dave was a partner in the Spokane office of Hawley Troxell, a regional full-service firm with locations across the Inland Northwest.

Known for a deep devotion to community involvement, Dave has actively supported several local organizations, including Boys & Girls Club of Spokane County, the Rypien Foundation and the Spokane Area Business Foundation. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Gonzaga University School of Law.

Dave obtained his LL.M. in Taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, and his J.D., cum laude, from Gonzaga University School of Law. He also holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Washington.
