Emily Gant and Dan Wadkins will be prominent speakers at the upcoming Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminar on “Starting A Winery.” This educational event will take place on October 13, 2023, at Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, and will also be accessible online for those who cannot attend in person.

The seminar is a collaborative effort between Gonzaga University School of Law and the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Liquor, Cannabis, and Psychedelics' Law Section. It aims to offer legal professionals a comprehensive overview of the intricacies involved in starting and operating a winery.

The afternoon's agenda will begin with a welcome by Dean Jacob H. Rooksby. Following this, Emily Harris Gant will discuss foundational aspects of setting up a winery, including legal facets surrounding entity selection, Tied House considerations, and more. Dan Wadkins will delve into funding mechanisms, focusing on compliance with securities laws and traditional versus alternative funding models.

An engaging panel discussion will wrap up the seminar's content component. This discussion will see attorneys and wine industry experts dissect various challenges and best practices pertinent to the wine industry.

Those attending in person have the added advantage of participating in a reception at 3:00 pm, hosted by the GU Wine Institute.
