The new HITECH Act has dramatically increased HIPAA compliance requirements. When it comes to protecting patients’ health information, healthcare providers can’t afford to ignore privacy and security regulations. This seminar will explain the new rules as well as new requirements related to electronic health records that will require changes to policies, procedures, and even notices of privacy practices. Participants will receive practical legal guidance on drafting policies and procedures, as well as information on free Washington state-specific policies and procedures. The presenter will be Stephen D. Rose, J.D., M.B.A., the chair of the Garvey Schubert Barer Health Law Department, and one of the educators for WSMA since the HIPAA privacy rules were first issued.
