Hillary H. Hughes Quoted in Law.com on Risks Surrounding Avocado Oil Claims
Hillary H. Hughes was quoted in a Law.com article about class actions challenging “100% avocado oil” claims. The cases follow a University of California, Davis study that analyzed 54 products marketed as pure avocado oil and found that 48 contained other oils.
Hillary noted that it is still too early to know whether the cases will succeed, but said the allegations show the risk of making highly specific claims without adequate support. She also said she expects more lawsuits given the level of consumer attention around avocado oil and discussed how supplier agreements can help protect companies that rely on third parties.
