Overview
Karly is an associate in the firm's Tribal Governments and Enterprises group. She advises tribal clients on litigation and transactional matters involving sovereign immunity, compliance with federal laws, vendor contracts and contract enforcement. She also has experience working with tribal clients to develop legal infrastructure, including drafting and revising tribal codes, regulations and policies.
While in law school, Karly excelled in Federal Indian Law, Native American Natural Resource Law, Indian Gaming and Tribal Governments. She graduated with highest honor—Order of the Curule Chair—with Native American Law Concentration.
Prior to graduation, Karly gained valuable practical experience as an extern with the Kaw Nation Attorney General’s office, where she assisted with both civil and criminal matters.
Karly, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, has devoted substantial time to advancing important initiatives. Karly served as an executive board member for the Native American Law Student Association (NALSA) and helped organize the annual University of Tulsa Powwow. She served as the Articles Selection Editor for the Tulsa Law Review, where her published article examined the discriminatory impact of mugshots on Native Americans and tribal communities. Karly is also a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Indian Law Section.
