Justice Brooks (Principal, Portland) is one of 21 members and six alternates appointed to serve on the Portland City Council’s new police oversight board. One of four attorneys appointed to the Community Board of Police Accountability, Justice will serve as a member for a three-year term.
The board is composed of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including attorneys, Multnomah County and state employees, community organizers, a physician and a social worker. Board members will work closely with the Office of Community-based Police Accountability, which will serve as an intake center for complaints against police officers. The board is responsible for reviewing and making determinations on cases, including police shootings, deaths in police custody and complaints of force that result in injury.
