Oregon employers are required to comply with a number of laws protecting employees who take leaves of absence, including the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Changes to OFLA and FMLA have been fast and furious in recent years, and new court cases interpreting OFLA and FMLA have muddied the waters instead of giving the clear guidance we expected. Administering family medical leave is often a daunting and confusing task for HR personnel and managers alike.

Join the Portland Office’s Labor & Employment Group as we explore OFLA and FMLA over the lunch hour:

  • Refresh your knowledge: get an overview of the basic requirements of OFLA and FMLA.
  • Take home a toolbox: learn best practices for OFLA/FMLA administration.
  • Avoid the trips and traps: understand how to reduce the risk of legal liability when managing an employee with protected absences.
  • Face the future of family medical leave: hear about the highlights of the recently proposed regulations to FMLA and other DOL and BOLI developments.
