Foster Pepper PLLC announced today that it has added nine attorneys to its office in Spokane, Washington, increasing the number of attorneys in the office from six to 15.
Joining the firm are Members (Partners) Thomas Bassett, Philip Carstens, Paul Fitzpatrick and Todd Reuter; Of Counsel attorneys Kevin Connelly, Kjirstin Graham, Lara Hemingway and Whitney Stowe; and Associate John Drake. The nine attorneys were all previously with the Spokane office of K&L Gates LLP.

The nine new attorneys will practice in the areas of Business, Estate Planning, Intellectual Property and Litigation & Dispute Resolution.
Thomas Bassett (Member) focuses his practice on insolvency and creditor representation in bankruptcy, real estate and employment matters. He received his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Massachusetts.
Philip (P.J.) Carstens (Member) has vast experience handling mergers, reorganizations and acquisitions and is best known for his experience in the design and implementation of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). He received his LL.M., from New York University School of Law, his J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law and his B.A. from Seattle University.
Paul Fitzpatrick (Member) concentrates on estate planning and administration, small business matters, federal estate and gift tax, and tax-exempt organizations. He received his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law, an LL.M. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his B.A. from Washington State University.
Todd Reuter (Member) focuses his practice on environmental real estate and commercial litigation throughout Washington and Idaho. He received his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Washington.
Kevin Connelly (Of Counsel) represents public and private companies and investors in transactions, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, finance, commercial lending and securities regulation. He received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, B.S. from the University of Washington, M.Ed. from the University of Georgia and B.S. from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Kjirstin Graham (Of Counsel) focuses on estate planning, wealth transfer and succession planning, as well as litigation of trust and probate matters. She received her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law and her B.A. from Washington State University.
Lara Hemingway (Of Counsel) concentrates in employee benefits, executive compensation, corporate governance and business transactions with a niche focus in ESOPs. Hemingway received her LL.M., J.D. and B.A. from the University of Washington.
Whitney Stowe (Of Counsel) focuses on copyright and trademark procurement, enforcement, patent litigation and false advertising claims. She received her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law and her B.A. from Gonzaga University.
John Drake (Associate) concentrates on complex commercial disputes and intellectual property matters. He received his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Richmond.
The Spokane office of Foster Pepper was established in September 1998. Prior to this combination, the firm’s Spokane office included six attorneys: Jim McNeill (Member), Jeffrey Nave (Member), John Nelson (Spokane Office Managing Partner), Milton Rowland (Of Counsel) and Melissa Cobb (Associate). A sixth attorney, Payton Stockton, joined the firm’s Spokane office in late September. The addition of nine attorneys will position Foster Pepper as the eighth largest law firm in the Spokane market with enhanced capabilities that position the firm to serve the area’s expanding business community.
