Documentation can make or break your labor or employment case. Like few areas of labor relations, you, the employer, are completely in control. The employer has the absolute ability to determine what is written in evaluations, formal discipline, PIPs, and, often, agreements. So why do so many employers mess this up!?! Jared Van Kirk and Andy Lukes will discuss the importance of well-written documents and share advice for creating solid, defensible documentation.
- Learning objectives:
- How to draft documents in the “Goldilocks Zone” – enough specificity but not too much.
- There is always more than one audience – learn who they are and how to draft with them in mind.
- Your honor, I’d like to introduce Exhibit A – how to draft documents that help the employer’s case in future arbitrations or proceedings.
- The good, the bad, and the ugly – examples of what to do and what to avoid.
The full agenda and registration information will be available soon on Washington Public Employers Labor Relations Association (WAPELRA)'s website.
