University of Washington’s Department of Real Estate Renamed in Honor of Jon and Judy Runstad

On March 8, 2018, the University of Washington’s Board of Regents recognized the contributions of Jon and Judy Runstad by renaming the Department of Real Estate, the Runstad Department of Real Estate. The real estate program was established in 1999 at the College of Built Environments with the help of a cornerstone gift from the Runstads to further the development of real estate education at the University of Washington.

Jon and Judy are both pillars of Seattle’s real estate community and have helped share the region through real estate development and civic engagement.

Since its founding nearly two decades ago, the Runstads have helped build and lead the real estate program to its success today. The Runstad Department of Real Estate serves as the focal point for the University’s real estate research, teaching, and engagement.

Both Jon and Judy are distinguished graduates of the University of Washington. Jon received his bachelor degrees in Construction Management and Economics and served as president of the Board of Regents. Judy received her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Washington Law Review in 2014.

Foster Pepper is pleased to have such a worthy leader as a member of the firm.
