Our attorneys have dedicated significant resources toward successfully developing a practice that serves the varied and highly technical needs of U.S. public pension funds. This experience was built advising the Washington State Investment Board in the late 1980s. Over the years, the laws and investment functions of public pension funds have become increasingly sophisticated. We provide ongoing advice to the boards and staffs of public funds regarding day-to-day investment and management issues. As our representation of public and private funds has grown, we have developed and continuously update the issues and structuring models exclusively for use with our clients.

We represent money managers and investment professionals who provide investment services to institutional investors, and work closely with them and fund staff to ensure conformity with investment policies and guidelines. Our attorneys discuss all legal and business issues with our clients and their advisors; as a result, we are familiar with the perspectives of all parties and the issues that impact an investment transaction.

Our attorneys actively participate in national organizations dedicated to the advancement of public funds. Foster Pepper is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association and the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys, an organization that monitors and informs its members of issues and legislative developments affecting public pension funds.
